Hello! 🙂 If you are wondering why you haven’t been getting email notifications – my apologies! I didn’t work out all the kinks before we left (clearly), but my friend Sophia who created this site has been a HUGE help in sorting these things out, so hopefully email notifications are now working and you can catch up if you’ve missed anything!
Today was our last day in Portugal! We spent the morning at the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Fatima and saw some more things we didn’t get to see yesterday. We met a man from England and a Nun from Michigan, and it was so nice to have conversations in English!Â
We were sad to leave because there’s still so much more we want to see and do in Fatima, but we also left excited because it meant we are one day closer to starting the Camino – the entire purpose of this trip. But now we have more reason to visit Fatima again in the future and spend more time there.Â
Thankfully we have been managing the bus system quite well so far! We took a bus from Fatima to Lisbon, Lisbon to Porto, and now Porto to Toulouse, France! Once in Toulouse we will take a bus or train to Lourdes where we will spend a couple days before starting the Camino. Right now we are about 7 hours into the 14 hour bus ride to Toulouse. My butt and my back are very sore, but thankfully since it’s an overnight bus trip it’s quiet and dark so it’s fairly easy to sleep. I’m dreaming of a hot tub to ease my sore muscles haha. There’s a lot of people on the bus and it seems as though half of them are coughing constantly, so I’m really hoping I don’t get something from them. I’m already feeling a bit stuffed up, so let’s hope it doesn’t get worse.Â
And now, back to sleep! It wasn’t the most exciting day, but we got to see and do some nice things in Fatima before we left, and then it’s been lots of travel. Tomorrow will hopefully be more eventful once we reach Lourdes! Thanks for following along, we are missing our friends and family, but we are so thankful for your support!
Buen Camino!
Hannah and Tony
That’s wonderful you were able to visit Fatima and are on your way to Lourdes, which I really loved. I hope you get some sleep on that bus. When will you start in SJPdP? I’ll be following your journey. Buen Camino.
Hello Mary! It is so nice to hear from you, thank you! We’ve been getting plenty of sleep on the bus thankfully. We are aiming to be in SJPdP Sunday evening, and will likely start the Camino on the 18th.
