Hi all! Today we completed 22km and are staying in Zubiri for the night! It was a big day. Due to some circumstances, today was actually the first day we walked with our packs on. And oh boy, does it make a difference. Although there were less inclines today, the packs made any incline we did that much harder, and the declines as well. My body aches from the hips down, all thanks to the pack. Before today, I was barely sore at all, and now that’s all changed. My Dad and I took it slow, and although it was long, we made it safe and sound to our hostel.
Today was beautiful, however! The weather was the perfect temperature (approx 20 degrees), a bit of wind, and plenty of shade. We walked through lots of wooded forest and beautiful nature paths the entire way.
My knees are quite sore tonight, but I’m hoping they *maybe* get used to it and ease up for me. However, these first few days are known to be the hardest because of all the incline, so hopefully soon we’ll be on level ground.
We had dinner with a lovely group of Italians who are at our hostel. They made pasta for us all, and it was sooooo good, some of the best I’ve ever had. And man are Italians boisterous, it was great to spend time with them!
Fun fact: turns out the winds from yesterday were approx 60-70km/h. Which totally explains why I was physically being blown off the trail haha.
Otherwise, it was a long and hard day, but we made it and are still glad to be here! Thanks for following along. Please pray for us, we need it. And please, if you could, pray for 2 special intentions of mine. We are praying for you all!
Buen Camino

Yes those first days are tough but just keep on trekking and your body does slowly adjust. Try to offload any unnecessary items from your pack, or send ahead to Santiago to pick up at the end. Every ounce counts! (for example, cut soap in half) Nice that you’re having such great weather. take care and I’ll pray for you two and your intentions. Buen Camino!
Yes true, it will get better in time! Today we started looking at what we can offload so hopefully that helps! Thank you for your prayers, it is so greatly appreciated!
