Hello all! Today was our first rainy day on the Camino as we travelled from Zabaldika to Pamplona. It was an 8.4km stretch, fairly flat, raining the entire way up until we finished the walk, of course haha. We spent lots of time by the river with lovely views and nature sounds from the birds chirping and water flowing. Overall it was actually quite lovely!
We walked with someone we met yesterday at our hostel, and after we all took a short break my Dad left ahead of us since we’d catch up to him shortly after. However, Angela and I are convinced we were on the right path and that it was my Father who got lost, because we didn’t meet up with him for almost 2 hours! Thankfully we found each other and made it to our hostel on time.
We are staying at a hostel run by German pilgrims and were greeted with lemonade and cookies. We then explored Pamplona, and I learned about “self cleaning bathrooms”. After getting myself stuck in the washroom, soapy water sprayed from all corners of the floor and onto the toilet seat, and the lights went out. I was soooo confused and couldn’t stop saying “ahhhh what’s happening what’s happening!” I’m sure others could hear me outside hahah.
Pamplona is the town of “the running of the bulls”, so we followed the historic road (still used to this day for the bull run) and checked out the shops and bars, museums and the Cathedral. The architecture here is absolutely stunning, and far older than ours back home!
It was quite a lovely day, even with the rain. We have loved making new friends and spending time together. Even though we only walked 8.4km we are wiped from being on our feet all day exploring the city. Sleep is much needed, since tomorrow is a longer and harder day! We are thinking of you all. Hope you are doing well!
Buen Camino!
