Hola! Today (Thursday) we made our way from Azofra to Santo Domingo. We originally planned to stop in Ciruena, but we arrived much faster than anticipated so we kept going. We did a total of 15km, and still got into Santo Domingo around 1pm.
I’m not sure how or why, but I feel like we are moving along much faster this trip than last. Whatever is happening, it’s working! My Dad thinks it’s either the good nights sleep or fruit juice in the mornings, haha! Maybe it’s both.
The hostel we stayed at in Santo Domingo was one of the nicest we have seen. There’s a fantastic clothes washing station, tubs to soak your feet, a lovely seating area in the back garden, and the building itself is massive with plenty of accommodation. And in addition, there was a chicken coop with at least 8 chickens!
Santo Domingo is where it is said that a young man, who was wrongfully convicted of a crime and later hung, was actually miraculously still alive days later. His parents went to speak with the Mayor of the time, who responded by saying “That boy is as alive as these chickens on my plate!” And after saying this, the chickens came to life, grew feathers and beaks and began to crow. Since then, Santo Domingo has been known as the town of “The Miracle of the Chicken”. Hence, chickens at the hostel.
BUT, not only that, there are chickens in the Cathedral! I was incredibly confused to hear chickens while walking through, haha!
We spent much of the afternoon exploring Santo Domingo and completing some smaller tasks. I had lunch with a pilgrim I had just met, my Dad took a nap, and we went to evening Mass. Such a beautiful and blessed day!
Tomorrow, (Friday), we are off to Granon, a place we specifically are stopping at for the well known Albergue (hostel). More to come soon!
Thanks for following along, we are praying for you!!

Santo Domingo was one of my favourite towns. Wasn’t the Cathedral wonderful? Particularly the crypt!!! Stunning!
