Hello dear friends! Todays update is a little different. Unfortunately Dad’s knee has not improved and he could barely walk in the morning. It was very obvious we wouldn’t be walking that day, so we got a taxi to the hospital. We were able to get in very quickly, and with little issue. Praise God everyone at the hospital that we had to communicate with was able to speak English well enough to get by without the need for translation aids.
They determined Dad has Tendonitis in his knee, and since the Ibuprofen and Tylenol wasn’t cutting it, they gave him a Corticosteroid shot in his knee to provide a stronger, local anti-inflammatory. They said he had to take a minimum of one day off, and then maybe can keep walking. We spent the rest of the day relaxing a lot and taking it really easy so the steroid could do its thing and not aggravate the tendons more.
While we were waiting at the hospital my dad realized he didn’t have his phone, so we were pretty sure it was left in the taxi. We hoped and prayed, and thankfully the taxi driver found it and brought it back to the hostel we stayed at. It worked perfectly because we intended to stay there again so when we arrived they had Dad’s phone waiting for him. Praise God!
One of my biggest fears of travelling to a country where we don’t speak the language is having a medical emergency and not being able to communicate. I told Dad I was very grateful his knee wasn’t a life or death situation because I’d be a lot more stressed. I was still concerned, but I was so pleasantly surprised when everything went so easily and we had no problems. The hospital staff were all amazing! So here’s to hoping tomorrow is a better day without another doctors visit!
Please pray for my Dads speedy recovery!
